Struggling to find the time to do your workout sessions? Feel as though try as you might, you can’t seem to fit a trip in to the gym?

Not to worry. You don’t necessarily have to go to the gym in order to get a great workout in. In fact, sometimes the best workouts actually take place outside of the gym.

Need proof?
Here are 7 fast ways you can torch calories that all take less than 10 minutes and are done completely outside of the gym.

Skipping

Break out your shipping rope and get skipping! 10 minutes of skipping can easily burn as much as 10 minutes of running, if not more. You’re looking at 100 calories if you’re skipping hard enough.

Burpees

Few exercises are as challenging as the burpee. This one will hit your quads, hamstrings, glutes, core, arms, shoulders, and back, not to mention will be a killer cardio workout as well.

Do as many burpees as you can in a 5 minute time frame. Each time you do this, try and achieve a higher number.

Circuit-Workout

Creating a mini-circuit workout for yourself is great to do first thing in the morning to get your day started off right.

Grab a set of dumbbells and perform 10 reps each of squats, push-ups, shoulder press, walking lunges, deadlifts, bent over rows, lateral raises, and bicep curls. Watch the definition taking shape!

Climbing Stairs

Who says you need a cardio machine to get in cardio training? Instead, try simply climbing the stairs in your own home. Run up the stairs and then walk back down. Do this 10 times in a row, rest for a minute and then repeat the process five more times.

You’ll have a killer cardio workout that will work your lower body extremely well, giving you a booty boost in the process.

Walking Lunge Intervals

If you don’t have a set of stairs, don’t despair. You can still create a great cardio workout with some walking lunges instead. Simply walk back and forth through the longest hallway/room you have, one foot ahead of the other.

Once you’ve done about 20 lunges, rest for a minute and then repeat again. Do this until 5-10 minutes are complete depending on your fitness level.

Raking Leaves/Shoveling Snow

Now it’s time for a totally non-workout type of activity – raking leaves or shoveling snow. While these may not be your favorite past times, the fact is, they need to get done. And, to make it a little less dreadful, remind yourself of the calorie burn you’ll get while doing them.

Both of these activities are great for working your entire back muscles as well as your arms and shoulders, while also putting your core to the test.

If shoveling snow, chances are, you’ll also bring your legs into play as they help you hoist the snow up and onto the side of your drive-way.

Per 10 minutes of raking leaves, you can easily burn 50-70 calories and per 10 minutes of shoveling snow, expect to burn 70-80 calories.

If you can’t hit the gym, simply head outside and get some yard work done!

Dancing

Finally, if you’re looking for a fun way to burn calories and release some stress, consider turning up your favorite music and dance – like no one’s watching. Really get it into it. Arms, legs, core – the more you move, the more you burn.

If you pair this with your favorite tunes – possibly some ‘golden oldies’, the time will pass so fast, you’ll hardly even notice it. You might even do 20 minutes thinking it’s been just 10.

If you really get into this one, you can also burn 60-90 calories in 10 minutes depending on how vigorously you’re dancing.

So don’t think that just because you can’t hit the gym, all hope is lost for your fitness plan. Think outside the box and look for alternative ways that you can burn calories quickly and get an edge on fat loss.
